SAFe is a framework for implementing agility on a large scale in an enterprise. This course will provide you with the DevOps knowledge needed to accelerate the time to production of your systems, in a SAFe® context. It will also prepare you for the SAFe® DevOps Practitioner (SDP) certification.

Teaching objectives
At the end of the training, the participant will be able to:
  • Understanding the CALMR approach to DevOps
  • Understand the importance of continuous exploration, continuous integration and continuous deployment
  • Prepare for the SAFe® DevOps Practitioner (SDP) exam
  • Use value stream mapping to measure flows and identify bottlenecks

Intended audience
Architects, developers, production engineers, integrators, Scrum masters, product owners, anyone involved in the implementation of agility on a large scale.

Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of agility concepts (Scrum, XP, Kanban, lean). Good level of English (materials and exam in English).

Introduction to DevOps

  • Recognizing the problem to be solved.
  • Explaining DevOps and its benefits.
  • Security and continuous testing.
  • The fundamental principles of the DevOps approach.
Group discussion
Deciphering the acronym CALMR.

Mapping your value stream

  • Explain how value stream mapping can be useful.
  • Assess the effectiveness of your current value stream.
Hands-on work
Map your value stream. Present the results to the other participants. Calculate the indicators.

Ensuring alignment through continuous exploration

  • Creating solution hypotheses.
  • Identifying customer needs.
  • Setting up the solution architecture for continuous delivery.
  • Summarizing the vision, roadmap, and program backlog.

  • Developing the solution.

Prioritize your DevOps backlog. Take note of the action plans of the various participants. Share observations.

  • Information about the SAFe® DevOps Practitioner (SDP) exam.
  • Video explanation of the process.


Certification
The exam is taken online at a later point, in English. It is 90 minutes with 45 multiple-choice questions. A score of at least 73% is required to pass.
